Thinking of you…

I decided to try my hand at a Cuttlebug Challenge inspired by Jennier McGuire this week.  I really thought this is going to be easy and had an idea in my mind.  It did not go the way I had planned.

I have a major case of the dropsies and butterfingers today.  Everything I picked up either fell, spilled, didn’t work right or I flubbed and cut wrong.  Ugh.  For examples, I cut my card base and scored so hard it tore in half.  While putting my set of Colorbox inks away, they flipped out of my hand and split apart on my floor.  Luckily only one landed sponge side down and didn’t get much ink on my floor.  Arg!  Then, I embossed my saying using versamark and white pearl embossing powder.  Low and behold, the white pearl embossing powder was CLEAR!!!  Clear, I tell you, on the pink patterned paper means invisible!!!!  I had to try and fix it by going over the words with ink.  Double ugh!  So in the end, after many trials and errors, I came up with this card.

For the background, I used the swiss dots embossing folder and then used the sanding block to make the dots white.  That was a super easy technique and really makes the embossed image stand out.  I also used the same technique on the punched butterfly.  I originally sanded the edges of the butterfly, but it got lost against the pink paper, so had to ink the edges with some black to make it pop.  I also used a glitter gel pen to add some sparkle to the little butterfly.

True to my word, I am really working on finishing the inside of the card as well.

Lol Lisa! I wondered what I was going to see when I got down to the picture of your card! Sounds as though you had a crazy time! Your card turned out beautiful though! The dots really do pop being sanded and the butterfly looks gorgeous too! Thanks for joining in the fun at http://www.cuttlebugchallenge.blogspot.com!
