it’s a hOWLiday card

The challenge this week at the Hero Arts blog is to use glitter.  Ok, I’ll admit it… I don’t use glitter.  It is just way to messy for me.  I get it all over me, my desk and sometimes my dogs.  They don’t like it either.

But, I do love glitter when it is incorporated in other medias… such as a glittery embossing powder and glitter glue.  Not so messy that way.

I love this Urban Prairie paper pad by Basic Grey.  It is not a holiday theme paper pack but I love the non-traditional colors for a holiday card.  I guess that might be my unofficial theme this year for holiday cards… no Christmas red and green for me.  The pop of color is so unexpected.  I used some white embossing powder with a glitter in it for the branch.  The berries are colored in with a Copic marker and then covered with some Christmas Red Stickles.  I also used some Stampendous Chocolate Brown embossing powder for the owl.
