{5.18.2012} stripes

Friends with Flair

Hello my wonderful Friends with Flair, I’m sharing my card for the brand new Unity Challenge that started on the 15th!

This month’s challenge is to use STRIPES in your project.  You can use ANY Unity stamps for this challenge (but only Unity) and you can combine with other challenge.

Our littlest niece is turning TWO!  She is so darling, I just wish she lived closer so we could watch her grow up.  I’m using some fun, girlie, party papers and stamps for her card.

My stripes are a little subtle.  Can you believe I had a hard time finding stamps with stripes?  I blame it on the quantity of stamps I own.  There are just too many to go through.  Ha.  So I reached for what just arrived and used Game Day Chili and everyday, EVERYWHERE.  Game Day Chili had some cute striped stars just perfect for this challenge.  They mixed in with the patterned paper perfectly.  And then my tag is punched from striped paper as well.

I had to laugh, when I handed my card over for inspection to the hubs, he read it as, Happy birthday TWO?  Hmmmmm.  I said, no, Happy SECOND birthday.  So, in order to get my thought across I had to add the little no. before the 2.  After a second inspection, he said, don’t you have a numbers sign?  ARGH.  No, I don’t.  I could not find a # sign anywhere!  I very well might have one, but seriously couldn’t find it.  I ended up stealing a saying from another set that included the word ‘note’ and masked off the ‘te’.  I don’t know if it really passed the final inspection, but it will do.  Ha.

Check out all the deets and to play along HERE!
Thanks for stopping by and remember to head back to the Unity blog to visit the rest of the Friends with Flair.

other: mega scalloped tag (Marvy Uchida), foam alpha letters (Thickers)

Ugh! I hate that, when you’ve done a clever sentiment, and then someone says something like that. It’s pretty much why I’ve stopped doing sentiments in any way other than horizontal. It messes people up, apparently. Silly husband.
I love those striped stars – perfect bright blue colour! and how cute are the little boy/girl silhouettes 🙂

This really IS a HAPPY card Lisa! Clever how you used the word “note”. I’ve stopped asking my husband what he thinks of my cards . . . well pretty much. LOL! I still ask him once in a great while. He tends to just give me the Ya, Yas— when I’m really looking for constructive criticism. Oh well! 🙂

for fabulous cards like this, you have to be able to think outside the box—or at least, that’s what i tell my husband:) adorable, lisa! have a great weekend!

Great card. Would have been fine even without the “No.” Sometimes husbands just don’t get it.

Hi Lisa! Finally…I am able to to leave a comment on your blog. For some reason, it has not been showing the “post comment” button, so there was no way for me to send my comment after I typed it? Weird, huh? Your card is super fabulous, as always! 🙂

Ha! Husb’s can be so full of suggestions sometimes, can’t they? Doesn’t matter, since this card is cuteness! 🙂 Love all the subtle stripes.

Fantastic card!!! The bright, happy colors are perfect for celebrating a little girl’s birthday! I love how you cleverly turned the note stamp to stand for number! Men….they try, but they really don’t get it…lol! I truly think everyone else would have gotten it with the first “draft” that you had 🙂

This is fantastic! So fun for a 2 year old. I have such a hard time with kids cards but you rocked it. Great story to go along with it… always find hubby’s comments (yours, mine and everyone’s) amusing.
