Simple stamping on layered die cuts + video

Blog + video tutorial: Sharing a 3 tiered die cut card layout. The stamping and layering was made easier using my MISTI tool. All stamps are by Unity Stamp Company. Hi there, I’m sharing another fun card for this week’s Sentiment Saturday. Twice a month, I’m excited to be sharing projects using the Unity Stamp Company sentiment kits. This week, I have another fun and easy layout idea for a birthday card. There is some die cutting involved, but you don’t have to use a die cut machine to make this card.

Featured Stamp Kit

Wish With Your Heart

This kit is full of lots of great little sentiments and dandelions (aka wish sticks). Until I found Unity, I had never heard of a wish stick. I knew the weed as a dandelion. I adore the name wish sticks so much more and it is so fitting. Lots of little wishes just waiting to be set free. This kit was created all around the idea of wishes and dreams. Which of course makes it perfect for the birthday cards I’m sharing today.

Assemble This! Video

I’ve created a quick video tutorial on how this card was made. You can watch it below or on Youtube.

I was browsing Pinterest looking for inspiration and saw a card with 3 die cut center panels. Pretty sure it is an older technique, but it definitely got my creative brain thinking. What a fun and brilliant layout. So, I used that idea as inspiration for my three wish stick images to float across all three panels. It is a fun way to add movement and dimension. While not necessary, I did use my MISTI tool to help stamp out the panels. It made it so easy. But as an alternative, a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig would work just as well.

I’m also using Gina K inks for the first time and oh my, I love them. Such vibrant colors!!!

The Steps

Here are the steps to recreate this card:

  1. Cover standard sized A2 cardbase with black cardstock.
  2. Splatter white cardstock with black spray ink and then adhere to cardbase.
  3. Die cut 3 smaller rectangles from the same white cardstock. If you do not have a die cut machine, just use your trimmer to create 3 small rectangles.
  4. If using a MISTI, stamp all your images on a transparency to help with the placement of the wish sticks and wishes sentiment placement. Stamp each wish stick using the transparency to line up the images on the 3 panels. Then, mask the sentiment and stamp only the “wishes” part on the last panel.
  5. Stamp and emboss happy birthday sentiment in white on black cardstock.
  6. Glue bottom panels to the front of the card and then pop up the front panel using foam adhesive. Pop up the sentiment as well.
  7. Die cut 3 small stars from black cardstock and glue to the front of the card.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you are inspired by today’s project. If you create something, I’d love to see. Join us in the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group to share your card and tag me.

Love the way you’ve designed this, Lisa! The layered panels add so much visual interest to this clean, colourful design. Must try when I’m feeling extra-confident in my MISTI abilities. 😉
