Quick Mixed Media Tag | Make Your Soul Happy

I thought I’d try a different style today… mixed media. While this is probably entry level mixed media, it was fun nonetheless. I’m mixing up some new Unity Stamp Company stamp sets and dies for this sweet mixed media tag.

It was fun to revisit this style. I love patterned paper but haven’t used it much lately. All the layering, stamping and little ellements reminded me how much I love this style.

First, I grabbed a paper pack that inspired me with the colors and patterns. Sadly, this one is retired, but I’m sure you can find something lovely in your stash to ispire you. I started out with the Make a Tag dies for my base. A tag sounded fun too, if we are trying a bunch of new things, let’s start with that. Then I started to stamp and layer. A couple background stamps here and there. I layered them over each other too. The scripty words from Soul Mail and the Tattered Grid Background quickly became my new best friends.

I think the little scalloped heart is my favorite bit. It has a tiny stamp cancelation mark and a ruler banner. All connected together by a couple of tiny staples.

When I had all my elements, I started to layer them up. I only popped up a few things here or there. I did some ink blending around the edges and the flowers have some pink blended on so they would pop a little more. I couldn’t help but add a few pink tinted rhinestones too.

Finally, the sentiment finished everything off. “Take time to make your soul happy.” I could put this tag on a card but I think it will live with me on my desk instead.
